This is another card that I made when I got my new rose stamps from Chocolate Baroque a few weeks ago. The first ones I made were pink and red, my first thought when it comes to colouring roses, but I decided to try a yellow one this time, especially as it was for a friend who prefers the yellowy colours. I stamped the rose with the script background onto a snippet of white card with Memento black ink, and coloured it with Promarkers. I then cut it out with a Spellbinders Label 8 ( I think ) die, and inked the edges with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. I cut a mat using the next size die from a snippet of black gold pearlised card and stuck them together. The base card is a white 15 cm square, and the patterned paper is from a 6" x 6" pad. I don't the name of it as it was one of some loose sheets that were given to me. I trimmed it to fit the card using a deckle edge cutter and as there was some green streaks in the pale blue pattern I also inked the edges of this piece with the green ink. I wrapped some pale yellow ribbon across this paper before sticking it to the card. The rose panel was then mounted over the ribbon with some thin foam tape. The greeting was cut with a Britania die from some toning pale blue paper and also from some little snippets of white card, three layers altogether each backed with Stick-It double sided adhesive. after layering them up I gave it a coat of Glossy Accents and let it dry before adding it to the card.
As I used some snippets I will be taking it over to Pixie's Snippets Playground - Use Snippets.
I am also entering it at Natalie and Amy - Flowers
and Country View Challenges - Anything Goes.

ReplyDeleteThat is quite a stunning rose image, and I love the text behind it! Yellow roses were my mother's favorite, and they always remind me of her when I see them! Your card is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty Jean and the muted tones are so delicate and elegant. I love the label shape you have mounted the rose on to, and the pastel yellow ribbon and the nice size of sentiment are beautiful embellishments and go so well with the nicely plain background. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful rose, Jean! You've colored it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteYou're making great use of this fab rose set. This is a very pretty & so detailed rose in the shading, and while I loved it in the pinks you did earlier, this soft yellow is so outstanding. And for me, the yellow is much harder to work with on the roses. You've done a brilliant job with the Promarkers, and the S/B shape is just perfect with this lovely rose. TFS & Hugs too.
ReplyDeleteThis rose is awesome Jean and i love the background. Gorgeous card.

This is so pretty. I really like that stamp! The script background is lovely with the rose image.
ReplyDeleteAnother one that jumped off the page in the playground and screamed Jean at me!! You are getting good use from your rose stamp and it is so pretty. Although I nearly always go for shades of pink when I am doing roses, this yellow one is really nice, and the background sets it off perfectly. Kate xx.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgous Kath. Fabulous design and the rose stamp is so beautiful xx
ReplyDeleteI will try again, I can remember what I put.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous stamp and looks great in the yellow and the background paper really sets the image off.
