Yes 25th March today which means another Rudolph Day challenge at Scrappy Mo's blog, Scraps of Life by Srappymo! The challenge is to make a Christmas card and runs from today until the end of the month so you still have time to enter, if you fancy getting a head start on your Christmas card making. There is a lovely die on offer as a prize this month.
My card this month was inspired by another Christmas card group I belong to on the Chocolate Baroque forum site where we aim to make a card or cards on a given theme. This year all the themes are song titles, this month's being Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem.
I started by stamping the image with a stamp from a Chocolate Baroque set, Peace on Earth. This is a reverse stamp which stamps the backdrop rather than the feature image. I masked off the lower part of the stamp with a post it note before inking the rest of it with Chipped Sapphire DI and then embossed it with WOW Clear Hologram Sparkle EP. Having cleaned the stamp I then masked the upper part, and inked the sand hills with Brilliance Pearlescent Beige ink, and with the help of a Stampin Up Stamp-a-ma-jig, stamped it more or less in the right place and embossed with WOW gold EP. I coloured the image with Promarkers and used a Sakura sparkle gel pen for the Star. I used a Memory box stencil, Star Dust and Memories Mist gold mica spray to add stars to a folded A6 white base card and then having trimmed the stamped piece I mounted it onto some gold coloured pearl card and fixed it in place. The sentiment is from the same set of stamps but the words are all on one line so I used masking tape and the Stamp-a-ma-jig again so I could make it into a square and mounted it to match.
Thank you all so much for visiting here today, and for your comments. I really appreciate them.
Jean
This is a cool stamp...gives such a lovely finished image. Your Memory Box stencil is so lovely too. Memory Box is 40% off till tomorrow, at the store just a few blocks from me. If the painters finish up the interior painting at our house, I may just have to walk down there tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteIt will be the last day of the sale, so they might be picked over by then,. They have a huge wall of MB...about 10 feet wide...so i might get lucky. That is where I purchase all my Rudolph Days prizes...as they have that 40% off sale about 4 times a year.
That sounds like fun, I hope you find a bargain ( or two)

ReplyDeleteA beautiful card Jean. It sounds like a lot of work but it was worth it. I like the gold stars too. If I used spray with a stencil it wouldn´t come cleanly like that! Kate x

ReplyDeleteWow that's a real work of art, suspect it's even more amazing close up xxx
ReplyDeleteJean, this is a lovely image, and you surely have done it justice with this beautiful card. Love the way you've done the 'hills', and also think you did a fantastic job with the spray on those stars. Loved the torn edge at the top of the night sky and that palm tree is very pretty too. I love traditional themes for Christmas cards, celebrating the real reason for the season, and this one is a big winner in my book. TFS & Hugs.
