Snowy Rudolph Day

Hi again, I' back with my card for the Rudolph Day Challenge where the idea is to make at least one Christmas card each month. Of course my plan is always to make more but it doesn't always happen, still any Christmas cards made early save a panic driven rush when it comes time to send them. The challenge starts on the 25th and runs till the end of the month. Of course it is a short month this time so only tomorrow left to join in.
This is a 13cm. square one layer card. All the stamps except the greeting are Cardio, some I have had for  while and some I bought at the NEC show in November. To start with I masked around the area for the scene with post it notes and stamped the tiny elements and added some light colouring with distress inks and cut and dry foam. After removing the post its I stamped the stag  partly out of the frame, and the trees beside it, using first and second generation inking. I'm not entirely happy with the black stamping and I think I will try it again using my stamping platform to get better definition. The greeting is from a set of stamps that were free with a magazine. I added some glitter to the snow scene with Stardust Stickles.

Thank you for taking time to visit here and for your comments, I really appreciate them all.

  2. This is a brilliant scene Jean with the lovely deer and the trees framing the left of the card and the little background scene has lots of interest. I love the sweet little bird on the branch too. x

  8. Hi Jean,
    Happy Rudolf Days.
What a brilliant card and such a super scene you have created it looks so wonderful.
I can't see anything wrong with your stamping it all looks perfect to me.
I love the sunny haze in the far side of that super scene.
We are always too critical of ourselves I think.
Thank you for joining the Rudolf Challenge.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L. DT

  9. What an amazing Rudy card Jean! I love this amazingly peaceful scene you have created and I love the different sizes of the stamps to make the scene appear so far away. Such attention to detail! So beautiful is that sunrise/sunset way back. I am in love with this one! Hugs, Brenda

  10. I think this is splendid! The generational stamping worked great, and even though you said you're not that happy with the stag inking, it really does work into the imagery that you've created. I loved how you created the scene within the trees, and the glisten on the snow was just shimmering. This is a wonderful card! (but yes, the stamp platform will give you the chance to reink but honestly, I don't think this one needed a single different thing!) TFS & Hugs

  11. Hi Jean

A really gorgeous card .. .. I love the Cardio stamps and your second generation stamping creates a lovely sense of depth.

Like you I try to make Christmas cards all year .. .. but I never manage as many as I would like. Trying harder this year!!!

Hope you are well and the snow and ice isn't causing you too many problems.

    Love Jules xx

  13. Caught just a glimpse of this birch tree scene as I enjoyed your later card above this post. Had to come for a closer look. I think it looks stunning in the black & white, (even if no red birds!) You did a fab job at creating this awesome (and quite cold looking too!) winter forest scene. TFS & have a good week
