Birthday Girl

Hello to my lovely followers.
Today's card is the one that I made for my great grand daughter, Jenna's 3rd birthday, which was at the weekend.
I used one of Docraft's Simply Gorjuss stamps and LOTV patterned papers. I stamped the image first, onto a snippet of white card with black Memento ink, and coloured it with Promarkers. These little girl images all have eyes but no other facial features and I must admit that I added a tiny nose and mouth with a black fine line pen as I think they look much better with a "proper face". The two patterned paper panels were cut from snippets from an LOTV pad that came free with a magazine some time ago, almost all used now. I layered both of these and the stamped image onto some blue card, adding a little scalloped canopy to the swing. I stuck the patterned pieces to the white 5"x 7" base card adding some pink grosgrain ribbon. The stamped piece is fixed with thin foam tape. The birthday greeting is from LOTV, stamped onto another snippet of white card. I didn't want it to end up too big so I die cut it with a small Spellbinder scalloped circle die, this removed the outer black border and I just inked round the edge with a black marker pen for a bit of definition. I mounted it onto a plain die cut circle of matching blue card and and used thicker foam pads to allow it to overlap the stamped layer.  To finish I added a little handwritten pink tab, and three punched daisies, shaped slightly with an embossing tool and with tiny blue pearls in the centers.

I am going to enter this at Pixies Snippet Playground - Use Snippets.

Thank you all for visiting here today and for your lovely comments, they very much appreciated.

Jean

  1. This is really pretty Jean and just perfect for your Great Grand daughter. This Gorjuss image is so cute and I love the canopy and flowers and the pink ribbon embellishments. The sentiment looks good cut down a bit too so it fits in better. x

  2. This is such a sweet card for your DGD, and I love that you added facial features to make it your own! I've never been on board with those faceless images for some reason, but you've made a very sweet and cute card today!

  3. I'm sure your adorable snippets card is just as sweet as Jenna is in real life, Jean! Is "Jenna" your namesake? It's nicely close to "Jean!" You are so blessed to be enjoying your GREAT-granddaughter!! Hugs, Darnell

  6. Hi Jean,
what a super card you have made for your Great Granddaughter.
That stamp is wonderful, and you have coloured it perfectly too.
I agree the face looks better with some features, and I admire you work with the pen.
I would have made such a mess of it.
Great design, and wonderful papers used too.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  7. Gorgeous (no pun intended!) card Jean. Brave girlie to add the features, but I must admit they really do make such a difference - if only I had a steady hand like you! And a great tip about cutting down the stamped sentiment - I have some similar ones here and ought to try that as they're often too overpowering at full size!

    Hugs

    Di xx

  9. What a pretty card Jean. I still have some of that paper too. Isn't it pretty. I think your little girl does look sweet with a proper face but I'm sure if I did it she'd look pretty ugly! Barbxx

  10. I'm with you - faces for ever! Don't own a single stamp without a proper facer and don't intend to ever buy one. I know peops love Tilda and the like but honestly they give me the creeps!!!! (apologies to all faceless fans but I can't help it!!)
Lovely card Jean - and a lovely smiley face on this stamp! x
