My goodness it is a long time since I posted anything here, or even made anything that I could post. The reason is that we have been redecorating our lounge which resulted in the whole house being in a muddle as we live a smallish bungalow and there is just nowhere to move things to. Consequently the job involved moving furniture back and forth to reach the various parts of the room. However it is all done now and I am well pleased with the result, I just have to replace my books and photos. As today is Wednesday and my friends were here for craft this morning I took the opportunity to make this card for the Butterfly Challenge, where this time the letter is E for embossing, this can be either heat or dry embossing, I opted for the dry kind.
When I was shopping in our local bits of everything shop recently I spotted a pack of grey board, die cut butterflies, about 25 of them I think, in assorted sizes for 40 pence, a bargain I couldn't resist. I chose these two for my card and embossed them with a Craft Concepts EF called Budding Vine, and the spayed them liberally with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Juneberry Wine. I the rubbed on some silver wax to highlight the high spots. For the back
ground panels I riffled trough the snippets box and found a piece of the pretty butterfly paper and the purple, inky piece which is the result of some long forgotten play session, so I am sorry but I have no idea what products I used, but judging by the colour it could have been the same glimmer spray and it has a bit of silver in it too. I trimmed both these pieces to make the panels and matted them onto silver mirri card. I stuck these to a 5" x 7" white base card and then added the butterflies mounting them on thin foam pads and adding some purple gems to their bodies. The sentiment is a Chocolate Baroque stamp inked with Seedless Preserves DI onto an offcut of the patterned paper and matted onto silver.
I am entering this card at The Butterfly Challenge - Butterfly + E for Embossing. and as the two panels were snippets I am also taking it to Pixies Snippets Playground - Use Snippets.
Thank you for visiting here today and for you comments which are all really appreciated.
I hope to be back soon.
Jean
I did wonder where you were Jean but thought you might be on holiday but decorating is a time consuming job so nice to see you back and happy your DIY has been a success. This card is beautiful and I love that purple colour for the background and the butterflies and that pretty embossing too and it goes perfectly with the grey. x
ReplyDeleteThis turned out just beautiful! I love the purple and silver colors together and those butterflies are something special! Best wishes with your newly redecorated living space :)

Your card is lovely Jean. Who would ever guess they started out as grey butterflies. You've done a beautiful job. Well done getting such a bargain bunch.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the decorating. We live in a small cottage and have the same problem and the downstairs is open plan. Imagine the state we were in when the kitchen was done two years ago! That's one of the reasons we kept putting it off. Barbxx
your butterflies were indeed a bargain buy and what a transformation you have done with them. I love the panels you have created. The colours compliment each other perfectly. Thankyou for fluttering by my #40. hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteBet your lounge looks fab now though eh?
ReplyDeleteTerrific butterfly card. Love the layout. xxx
Hi Jean,
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about a small bungalow as I too live in one.
We want new carpets, but it's where to put the furniture while having this done, as it won't fit in any of the other rooms, and I do have a lot of stuff, and I mean a lot. LOL.
Especially in my craft room.
Wonderful card for the butterfly challenge.
Great design, and wonderful colour choice too.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
So pretty Jean, love the silver glinting through and the pretty little butterflies, great!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful and elegant creation, your bargained embossing butterflies are awesome! Thanks for joining at Butterfly challenge!
ReplyDeleteI understand what you are saying about decorating! I packed up our Den around 2 years ago and it still isn't finished yet!! There are books and dvds I haven't seen for ages!
ReplyDeleteThat card is lovely. Especially like the choice of colour!
Hugs

These soft colors are wonderful with the silver gleam on the mats. Love reading when somebody scores a good buy, and did the spray ever dress up the cardboard so beautifully. The gleam of the jeweled body added even more shimmer to this gorgeous card. Glad your renovations are all done...remodeling is much worse than building from scratch! TFS & Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThat is really beautiful Jean! I love the colours very much x
