Flight Of Fancy

I have a quick card to show you today which I made in order to enter at Mrs A's Butterfly Challenge where the theme this time is Monochromatic. I used a stencil from Memory Box on ivory card and three shades of Brilliance ink applied through the stencil with a brush. The shading has not photographed too well, it looks better IRL. Before removing the stencil I stamped a butterfly stamp onto the two largest butterflies. The stamp was not exactly the size or shape of the apertures but with help of a stamp positioning thingy I managed a reasonable result.I trimmed the panel down a bit and brushed some of the lightest shade of ink around the edges and matted it onto some toning pearlised card and then attached it to the front of an ivory base card. The greeting is stamped with darkest shade of ink. The bodies of the stamped butterflies didn't quite match up so I added the pearls as a cover up as well as embellishment.

Thankyou for taking a look and for the comments you leave which all really appreciated.

  1. I enlarged your photo to see this better. You did well! I am not clever with stencils and don't get them out very often, but I am beginning to look at them a bit more closely and see their potential. This card is lovely, and I am sure the brilliance inks look much prettier for real. I like the matching pearls too. Kate xx

  5. Jean, this is so very pretty and you did a fantastic job with stamping through the stencil. That is awkward to do, and very easy to mess up. Yours is so well done, and if you had not said the stamps didn't match the stencils, I would never have guessed this. Cause it looks just perfect. Love the shade you selected for your monochromatic card...it is very soothing & serene, yet still very elegant. Your pearls were wonderful additions as bodies for the butterflies. TFS & Hugs

  7. I love it Jean. Love the clean lines and the colour is perfect. The stamped image could well have been made for the stencil. You have matched it so well. Thank you for fluttering by. Hugs Mrs A.
