Elephants

Well here we are already a whole week into the new year and I have to say I am struggling to get back to normal ( whatever that is ) It has been very cold here this week and as I do my crafting in the conservatory I find it too chilly to sit there for very long, even though there is a good heater in there. We live in a bit of a dip and don't get much sun at this time of year, and there has been a couple of very white frosty days this week and the frost just doesn't melt all day. It has been a bit warmer today but it has been very dark and dreary so I'm afraid it is more tempting to sit in the warmth of the lounge with my knitting in the afternoon. This week I have been trying to finish a cardigan I was making for one of my great granddaughters so that I was ready to start a new crochet blanket yesterday. My  daughter gave me the kit for Christmas and the pattern is to be published on Fridays as a Crochet Along on Lucy's Attic 24 blog starting yesterday. I made a start last night making the long starting chain and then the first two rows which form the first stripe.  Now I need to try and get the next 18 stripes done before next Friday. I wonder if I will be able to keep up. Hope fully it will be warmer next week and I can get back to my craft table but in the mean time I am showing you this card that I made for my husbands birthday a while before Christmas and never got around to blogging it.
He really likes elephants so when I saw this art stamp from Imagination Crafts  I just had to buy it. I stamped it with Archival Watering Can ink onto some silver grey pearlised card and then mounted it onto light blue pearlised card. The greeting is from  Chocolate Baroque stamped and mounted to match. The backing paper is from an 8"x 8" pad of oriental designs, I'm sorry I don't know the make or name, but I have had it quite a long time. I trimmed it slightly smaller than the front of a 6"x 6" base card, and embossed the right hand side of it with a Stampin Up embossing folder,Stylish Stripes. I added a piece of striped ribbon at the edge of the embossing before fixing the the image and greeting panels.

I am entering this at Patties Creations Challenge - Use An Animal Image

Thank you for your visit here today, sorry it has been a bit of a ramble. Thank you too if you leave a comment, I love to read them and really appreciate them .

  3. Hi Jean. I just popped in to see what you have been doing. I bet Ron liked his elephants. I am never quite sure what to do with the art stamps, but this one has printed really well.
You crochet quite fast so I bet you will keep up with the CAL. As long as you can get that wavy pattern into your head, you'll be fine. Kate x

  6. A great card for a fellow who loves elephants. The image is wonderful.

I think elephants are pretty interesting characters. I watched a documentary about them and how they return to their ancestors graveyard each year. It showed them caressing the bones of their relatives...it was so interesting.

  11. Sorry, I know this was over a month ago but I missed it somehow Jean. I hope your crocheted blanket is going well and this card for your husband is wonderful and I can see why he loved it. I am quite partial to elephants myself and love that art stamp and the orange colour in the background works beautifully with the embossing on it too. I was only thinking the other day that you hadn't been around for a while and just thought I would pop over to see if I had missed any posts. Hope to see some more of your lovely cards soon. x
