Good evening bloggers it has been a while since my last post, but yesterday was my sister Kate's birthday and here is the card that I made for her. I used part of a Chocolate Baroque border stamp for the image. The stamp is almost 6" wide but I used this part of it to make an ATC recently and I liked the result so much and enjoyed colouring it too, that I decided to use it again for this card. I stamped onto a snippet of ivory card with black Memento ink and coloured with Derwent Coloursoft pencils, using a paper stump, and Sansodor to blend the colours. The word Autumn is an Inkylicious stamp. The base card is an ivory 15cm square and I cut a piece of pearlised purple card to cover the front leaving just a narrow edge. The faded leafy background paper was in a bundle given to me by a friend and I think it is from a Hunkydory set. I cut this slightly smaller than the purple layer and stuck it in place. I inked the edge of the approximately ATC sized image with Milled Lavender and Tea Dye distress inks, and then cut a mat from a snippet of the purple card. After sticking the image in place I stamped the Chocolate Baroque birthday greeting below it and added three graduated lilac gems. The lovely orange and purple organza ribbon has been in my ribbon box for quite some time waiting for the right project and I felt this was it.
As I have used a couple of snippets I am going to enter this at
Pixie's Snippet Playground - Use Snippets
and also at Stamping Sensations - Autumn.
Thank you for visiting here today and for your comments which are all really appreciated.

I thought I'd pop over and visit from the Snippets Playground. I love the soothing autumn colors on your card. That's a neat way to show off only part of a large stamp. I never think to use a part of a stamp myself.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful Autumn card Jean and I love the partially stamped CB image with the fruits and foliage you have coloured so prettily which looks great on top of the patterned background. The sentiments, ribbon and gems are gorgeous finishing touches too. I'm sure your sister Kate will have loved this super card. x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Jean - and using just pert of the stamp works so well! Fabulous colouring and Kate is sure to have loved her card!

It's a gorgeous fall scene, and I'm sure Kate loved it. Good idea to use part of a large stamp as you've done here. Your coloring is superb, and I like the muted background - lets the soft autumn rich colors shine. TFS
