This is a one layer card for easy posting, and the stamps used are Chocolate Baroque, apart from the greeting which is a magazine freebie. All the stamping is done with Memento Expresso Truffle ink, and coloured with coloursoft pencils, blended with Sansodor and a paper stump.I added a few touches of gold with a gel pen. When I had finished colouring I cut an oval aperture from some spare card and used it as a stencil to add a glow around the lantern, using Squeezed Lemonade and Antique Linen Distress inks and a duster brush. I brushed over the lighted area with clear Wink of Stellar and used a snippet of gold peel off for the hanging chain. I also added a touch of snow effect along the branch and cones with some sparkly white embossing powder.
So now I am off to link this up at The Rudolph Day Challenge. This is a lovely friendly Challenge to take part in so if you feel like making a start on Christmas cards it runs from today 25th until the end of the month.
Thank you for visiting here today and for your comments, I appreciate them all.

What I love most about this card is that soft glow you achieved around the lantern with color! It radiates warmth in such a beautiful way!

ReplyDeleteVisiting your blog today with my DT members hat on. Thanks for entering the Rudolph Days Challenge this month - Good Luck!
This is so pretty Jean and I love the way you have hung the lantern from the pine cone branch and added that lovely yellow glow. x
ReplyDeleteOh Jean, this is so pretty and from your beautifully written post, I can tell that it must be even more stunning in real life with the special touch of gold and the brush effect with distress ink. I like the metallic chain and the dreamy look of it all.
ReplyDeleteStunning card Jean!

Therre is so much depth to this card and hard to realise it is all one layer. I love the halo of light around the lantern. Hugs Mrs A. Good to see your followers are back.
ReplyDeleteOH Jean...this is such a pretty card. I have noted your idea of the oval apperture to create the glow of the candle...love that idea.
ReplyDeleteI only learned of peeloffs since I joined the Langely stampers club last year. I now own the various wee phrases which come in so handy for teensy areas...but had never thought of what to use the strips etc for so bypassed those.
I love the idea to use them for dangling items. Will be popping back to the craft store for them now!
Thanks for taking part in the February Rudolph Days Challenge. Good luck in the prize draw.
Lovely Jean. Lots of detail. I like the fir cone branch with its snowy trimming. We both dusted a bit of 'glow' this month. Ha! Kate x
