Hi there, today I have a card to show you which I made for a friends' birthday, but also made with the Butterfly Challenge in mind. The theme there this time is Butterfly + G is for gems. My base card here is a white 5" x 7" ready folded one from my stash. The patterned paper I think came free with a craft magazine some time last year, and I cut a panel to partly cover the front of the card. Both the oval and the flourish dies are from Dienamic. The oval is cut from smooth white card and the edges inked with Stormy Skies DI. The flourishes are cut from blue Papermania card, I had to trim these down a bit to fit on the card. I stamped the butterfly onto the oval with new stamps from Crafty Individuals. There are several different butterflies in the set and each one has two stamps, one to stamp the colour and the other to add the detail, this is the largest in the set. I used a Marvy Blending Blox ink pad with shades of blue for the first stamp, and Chipped Sapphire DI for the detail. I stamped it a second time on a snippet of white card and fussy cut it out. I fixed the oval in place with foam tape and glued the flourishes in place. I used gel glue to stick the second butterfly over the first one allowing the wings to be slightly raised. I then added some tiny blue gems to the body and to the edge of the oval. The birthday greeting is stamped with a Chocolate Baroque Stamp and Chipped Sapphire ink.
I am entering this at The Butterfly Challenge - Butterfly + G is for Gems, and as the oval, butterfly and backing paper were all snippets I am also entering Pixies Snippet Playground - Use Snippets. The butterfly is a creature so I can also enter at Stamping Sensations - Feature a Creature

ReplyDeleteIt's me again Jean! Have you changed your profile photo? I kept seeing this unfamiliar looking lady called Jean with beautiful auburn hair wearing a lovely vibrant turquoise top as I was hopping about the Playground earlier - and just clicked to check who she was, and discovered it's you. Or have I had my head in the sand for years? Fabulous photo!
